Clean Your Carpet When Spring Cleaning

Many people who install high-quality carpeting at home often find that it is one of the first things they want to deal with during spring cleaning. This is especially because in many homes, carpets play a focal point in tying together the design of a room. The feeling of cleanliness and comfort is what you want to restore when you have spring cleaning, to remove the dirt and wear that accumulated over the entire season.

In addition, carpeting are excellent ways to ensure that should young children in the home slip or fall, the carpeting is there to cushion that fall.

Here are some points to remember when you are spring cleaning your carpet:

•Vacuum your carpets often. Regularly cleaning your carpet with a vacuum cleaner helps minimize the build-up of soil that tends to attach itself to the fibres of the carpeting.

•It is inevitable that stains or tough dirt will adhere itself to your carpets. However, what keeps your carpets looking new for longer even after a lot of spring cleaning periods is your ability to remove these stains immediately. Stains become more difficult to wash off and remove if it is not dealt with immediately.

•Check the detergent and spot cleaning agent that you are going to use before applying it to the carpet. Carpet fibres may react adversely to these cleaning agents, and may cause the discoloration on the spot where the agent was applied.

•When spring cleaning season arrives, spot-cleaning treatments gain popularity for immediately removing hard-to-clean stains and spots. However, be reminded that when treating stains, try using a mild spot-cleaner first, and then move to a harsher treatment if the milder one does not work.

•Refrain from digging the fibres of your carpet when you find spots. To properly remove it, wipe from the middle, then compress the spot of dirt on a white rag with the use of a fine brush.

•The temptation to excessively use cleaning detergents and other cleaning agents during spring cleaning will be strong, but practice some restraint. Excessive use of these cleaning agents will lead to the inevitable: these agents will leave residues on your carpet that you will be unable to vacuum off.

•It is a misconception that carpet cleaning requires submerging it in water. In fact, if you end up putting excess water on the carpet, you may end up shrinking the carpet.

The list provided below will help guide you as you go along spring cleaning your carpet this season. A clean carpet is the best home accessory, so keep it clean.

A clean carpet that looks fresh can bring additional beauty to any room it is placed in. Take advantage of your spring cleaning schedule and prioritize your carpets!
