The Energy Centers In Reiki

Reiki's energy works will with our own internal energy centers which are called Chakras.

Chakra is a Sanskrit term for wheel. In Reiki, we have seven chakra centers inside our body representing various energy channels. These include:

1. The crown chakra (Sahasrara)

2. The Third Eye chakra (Ajna) reperesenting the forehead

3. The throat chakra (Vishuddha)

4. The heart chakra (Anahata)

5. The solar plexus chakra (Manipura)

6. The sacral chakra (Svadhisthana)

7. The root chakra (Muladhara)

These chakras are lined from the base of your spine to the top of your head, and are defined both in energy form and color. The seven rainbow colors represent these chakras starting with red at the base, followed by orange, yellow, green, blue, indigo, and violet or white at the top.

Each chakra also stands for a certain emotion which connects to a particular problem area and various glands in our body. Stress, anxiety, wrath, frustration, trauma, and incapacity to deal with problems can obstruct the chakras. Reiki serves to clear these energy centers when they are blocked.

When meditating, these chakras can be envisioned as various colored wheels, or candles of colored light to be dealt with personally to promote problem resolution. Reiki practitioners not only work with chakras, but also with other healers because the state of these centers directly affects the state of their associated endocrine glands and organs. Below is the list of colors and the causes for their obstructions.

1. Red (the root) - indicative of insecurity or fear

2. Orange (the spleen) - connected to the consciousness aspects dealing with emotional link between food and sex

3. Yellow (the solar plexus) - connected to our ego personality; also associated with power, control, and freedom

4. Green (the heart) - in connection with relationships, love, and the act of giving and receiving

5. Blue (the throat) - associated with communication problems; fear of voicing your opinions.

6. Indigo (the brow/Third Eye) - Linked to your inner vision, Spirit and spirituality

7. Violet or white (the crown) - represents wisdom and intuition; directs life energy through the other chakras

Whereas Reiki works efficiently in unblocking the chakras for a more effective functioning, it also provides a key to understanding any underlying problems associated with those mentioned above.

Keeping a balance will result in harmonious functioning of your body, mind, and soul. Be familiar with these chakras and determine why you are having any troubles or problems in these areas.

If you often suffer from throat troubles, try to figure out if you find it hard to voice out your opinion or express your feelings to somebody.

Inform your Reiki practitioner beforehand of problematic areas in your body so he/she will work towards unblocking and rebalancing the appropriate chakra involved.
