Facts About Reiki Therapy
Reiki Defined
Reiki is a form of natural healing that originates about 50000 years ago in ancient Egypt, Tibet, India and China. However, the Reiki that we know presently was rediscovered by a Buddhist monk in the late 1890's and has become popular as a complementary to all traditional and alternative forms of treatment. Pronounced as 'Ray-Key,' Reiki essentially translates to "free flowing universal energy."
How Reiki works
Reiki is not a belief system or a form of philosophy. As such, it does not depend on your beliefs, religious faith, or doctrinal dogmas. As a client, you will not be required of anything special, except an openness to anything that may ensue as well as the awareness of your need to improve. Reiki therapy works to free the blocked energy centers which can be seen as physical, emotional, or mental problems. Once opened, these energy centers release natural energy flow throughout your circulation, rejuvenating, reviving and relaxing you in the process. This can further enhance your own natural healing resources and processes to combat your medical condition more efficiently. As the energy spans all dimensions and heals at all levels, your physical, emotional and mental health are generally improved.
What to expect during a Reiki therapy
Reiki therapy is usually done while the client is either lying on a massage couch or sitting down. You need not take off your clothes during treatment too; and no oils will be used. All therapy is administered without physical manipulation or any discomfort whatsoever. When administering treatment, the Reiki practitioner only needs to put his hand over the different energy centers all over your body.
As the client, you will experience sensations of being re-energized, rejuvenated, or extremely relaxed. While others can feel heat, coolness, or a tingly sensation, some may feel nothing significantly noticeable whatsoever. Whether you experience any of those or no though, everything is but normal.
Is it effective?
Reiki usually helps in any way. Some people may show positive results quite obviously. But others will show more subtle results whose progress could take slowly over a period of time. In many cases, Reiki serves to facilitate recovery from various illnesses and has helped eliminate several acute and chronic medical conditions.
Does it have harmful effects?
No, Reiki is not harmful. Occasionally, a client may experience a cleansing process, or healing crisis, which is a sign of energy release. This process though is normal and necessary for healing to start as it provides an efficient way of clearing the blocked energy centers.
Over the years, many people have benefited from Reiki. Its advantages have helped many clients in various particular ways, all addressing the clients' individual needs.
