The sod farms have acres and acres of land, where they can grow many varieties of grass at the same time.
After the hard work of the initial installation of your sod, there will be minimal maintenance to keep it in great shape. During the first two weeks after planting it will need to be watered daily. After that, the watering can be less frequent. After about six weeks your lawn should be well established. When the blades of grass reach two to three inches you can start mowing. Apply fertilizer about every 60 days. Fertilizers will keep your lawn healthy and rich looking. At this point, all it needs is water, mowing, and fertilizer. Once in awhile, you may want to rent and use an aerator. This will break up compacted sod turf and enhance root growth.
